We’re very pleased to announce that our 20th Anniversary event will be sponsored by Fit Reds Vets.
The Fit Reds Vets are a group of men aged over 35 and/or have had health issues. This follows on from BFC’s ‘Fit Reds’ 8 week course which educates and promotes a healthier life style and aims to improve fitness for all involved. It is a successful scheme, which has benefited over 600+ males in Barnsley area to date. When placed alongside recent statistics, that show the average life expectancy for a male from Barnsley is 2 years lower than the national average, it can be seen how important schemes like this really are.
The Fit Reds Vets, carry on the initial good work, and keep up the fitness and football side of it when the course is completed. It’s about a lifestyle change, not a one-off quick-fix. The group meet weekly to participate in circuit training followed by a several games of 5-a-side football at Oakwell, so far we have over 200 members in total, and regularly have around 80+ attendees every Thursday evening.
Alongside that they also have regular matches against similar teams from around the country on weekends, and also participate in other team sports, to help raise money for local charities.

We’re very excited to announce that next year on the 25th June we’re hosting our biggest event to date – a 10th anniversary celebration of the Play Off Final win at Cardiff at The Metrodome, Barnsley. In attendance will be the full squad of players including Bobby Hassell, Martin Devaney, Anthony Kay along with Andy Ritchie and many, many more.
The event has a capacity of 300 and will include a 3 course meal, a comedian, DJ, a Q&A with some of the squad alongside an auction & a raffle with all profits being split across our chosen local charities. Tickets will be £45 per person, including VAT.

As part of our constitution, we promised to make available each year a summary of our accounts to make it perfectly clear we’re not pocketing any of your hard earned cash you choose to send our way. Our 13/14 accounts are here.
Below numbers include some subscriptions & advertising sales for next years fanzines.
In total, WSB income was £8,754.99 in the year 1st July 2014 to 27th June 2015 & was made up of:
- Fanzine sales of £4,633.45
- Merchandise sales of £1,161.90
- Event tickets, auctions & raffles of £692.56
- Advertising sales of £2,087.08
Our total outgoings & donations for the year totaled £27,998.14 and was made up of:
- Total donations of £22,565.74 (including proceeds from two sponsored walks, one in association with Barnsley Football Club Supporters Trust)
- Printing costs of £1,574.20
- Merchandise production of £1,429.40
- Event costs of £291.73
- Other fees (including online fees, domain registrations etc) of £300.11
- Postage (bastard Royal Mail) of £1,836.96
Writing those numbers down is pretty humbling & seeing how much we’ve raised for fantastic local causes these last 12 months is worth every queue in the post office, every hour stood on the corner of Grove Street in the rain & every hour annoying you on Social Media. Without doubt, thanks go out to our friends who’ve helped in any way, be it walking to Chesterfield or Bradford, selling our magazines or offering advice & support.
As always, we’re looking to do more next year. We’ve got some really exciting things lined up that I hope you’ll continue to support as much as you have done these last two years. To help us raise even more, we’re looking to get some new blood on board to give us some new ideas, some extra hours and time & generally help us out. 2016 marks the tenth anniversary of that famous, rain soaked day in Cardiff when Andy Ritchie’s side clinched promotion back to the Championship, beating Swansea City on penalties to delight the 30,000 travelling Reds.
To celebrate that achievement, West Stand Bogs are proud to announce an evening with the promotion squad at the Holiday Inn, Dodworth on June 25th 2016. Confirmed attendees include Andy Ritchie & Bobby Hassell along with many more of that squad.
On the night we’ll have a 3 course dinner, comedian, Q&A with the lads along with auctions & raffles with all profits, as always, going to Barnsley charities.

WSB, in partnership with The Shotton Gentlemen’s club are proud to present an evening of good music, ale, growlers, company & charity fundraising in the presence of Barnsley greatness.
It is my eternal pleasure to announce that on Friday 17th April at Opium Number 10 we will be joined for a Q&A with the hero that is Darren Sheridan.
Tickets will be £4 in advance & £5 on the door and will include a talk from the man himself, growlers, black pudding, an auction and raffle to raise funds for the WSB chosen charities. All cash raised on the evening will be donated back out to Barnsley causes.

Doors will open from 7pm and the event will run until around 10.30 when it’ll then be followed by a knees up until the early hours playing the best music in Town. We’ll all then end up in Wildcats at 5am with Shez on the pool table.
Tickets are strictly limited – get yours whilst you can. We’ll be keeping names on the door so no tickets will be sent out because Royal Mail are robbing Tory Bastards.

As some will know, we raised a couple of hundred quid recently in the hope that WSB could sponsor a player at Oakwell. For whatever reason that’s not happened so we’ve decided, with your suggestions, to donate that cash to a local junior side that really needs it. So here’s how it works:
1. Nominate your side by tweeting us, sending us a message on Facebook or emailing email@example.com by 10pm Sunday 17th August.
2. All nominations will then go to a public vote on Monday 18th. You have until 10pm on Sunday 24th to drum up some interest and vote for toe club.
3. Winner will be announced Monday 25th and they get £250. Easy, eh?

Just like our first season, we’re offering local & independent businesses the opportunity to advertise in our magazine. As always, all money raised will help our fundraising and mean that we help even more people in our Town. Ideally our printing costs or at least the vast majority would be covered by our advertising which means for every sale the full £2 goes to our chosen charities.
We’re offering 8 pages of advertising this season in our minimum 40 page mag. Prices are below and includes:
1. Listings on our website (c200k hits per year)
2. Repeated mentions and links from our Social Media sites which at the time of writing have almost 3k followers and growing all the time
3. Ads in each of our 4 mags next season in which we’re anticipating to sell around 4k, excluding digital downloads.
We have available 7 out of 8 pages available – which we’re breaking down to:
3 x full colour (inside back cover and 2 centre pages) – £140 each (£35 per issue, <4p per mag)
2 x black and white pages – £100 each (£25 per issue, <3p per mag)
4 x half page black and white – £60 each (£15 per issue, <2p per mag)
And as part of a benefits package for our subscribers we’re looking for local businesses who are willing to offer our subscribers (anticipated to be above 150 for the next season) discounts or special offers.
